Abstract

Susceptibility to brittle fracture has been analyzed by testing specimens precracked by fatigue in the simulated HAZ region. It has been analyzed how the heterogeneity of microstructure and mechanical properties of different HAZ regions, obtained by simulation of one-pass and two-pass HAZ, affects crack occurrence and growth, enabling the expression of quantitative parameters controlling local deformation behavior and crack growth.
