Definition, classification, standardisation and symbolic representation of welding, soldering, brazing and similar processes according to new version of standard ISO 4063

Abstract
At the beginning of 2021, a draft version of the ISO 4063 standard was published, which defines, classifies, standardises and unambiguously symbolically represents welding, soldering, brazing and similar processes. This version of the standard revises and classifies some previously standardized processes, introduces a new basic group of plastic welding processes and additionally defines, classifies, standardizes and introduces a new system of marking processes and methods of mechanical joining, as well as adhesive bonding. The paper reviews these novelties within the ISO 4063.
